OUR STORY

Where it all began.

Our founder, Colin Young, spent years at the sharp end of music royalties, building one of the UK's leadingmusic accounting firms and advising global artists, labels, and rights holders on the complexities of their income. Time and again, he witnessed the sameproblems: opaque reporting, missing revenue, and outdated processes that leftmoney on the table and creators in the dark. 

So he set out to build something different. A team that wouldn't just accept the status quo, but would challengeit. A company powered by data and innovation, driven by integrity, and focusedon real impact.Today, Y Royalties sits at thecrossroads of music, data, and finance, combining deep industry expertise withcutting-edge tools to unlock clarity and value for rights holders worldwide. From auditing royalties to managing portfolios and supporting major catalogue transactions, we're trusted to deliver results where it matters most. 

Colin continues to champion transparency across the industry, advising the UK government on the economicsof streaming and serving on the IPO's Transparency Technical Group. A Chartered Accountant, Registered Auditor, and physics graduate from Lancaster University,he remains passionate about one mission above all: making the music royalty system work better for everyone.

Ben is a founding Director of Y Royalties and oversees all departments across the business. He ensures operational excellence, a seamless client experience, and the continued growth of Y Royalties' services.

With 20 years' experience across C.C. Young & Co and Y Royalties, Ben connects teams, systems, and strategy to deliver clarity and value for every client.

James White

FINANCIAL DIRECTOR

James leads financial strategy at Y Royalties, shaping growth and innovation in the global music rights space.

With over 30 years in senior finance roles across Universal Music, Island, Polydor, Omnifone, and CV Group. A qualified ACA with PwC, James holds degrees in Accountancy, Finance, and Fine Art and is also a musician who has released two solo piano albums.
